Capt Sky.jpg
Captain Sky

Born and raised on the Florida Keys, Sky was quickly introduced into what has become her biggest passion: Diving! Having ‘grown up’ on her family’s diving charter boats since age 3, Sky became a certified SCUBA diver at age 11. In 2014 she obtained her USCG 50-ton Master Captain License and operated three dive boats daily. Now, as the owner/operator of Islander Girl Snorkel & Tours and as a Keys native, Captain Sky’s mission is to offer personalized daily charters to our reefs to educate people about the importance of protecting our oceans and reefs! Join Capt. Sky aboard our customized snorkel boat “The Crown Conch” and make some memories that you will never forget!

Divemaster & First Mate

Hannah was born and raised in middle Tennessee. Growing up wakeboarding, swimming, and skim boarding on the lakes, she realized she wanted her life to be spent on the water. While pursuing her degree in Psychology at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, she became scuba certified and eventually got her divemaster. She worked as a scuba diver, animal handler, and free diving mermaid at an aquarium in the Smoky Mountains until she decided to move to the Keys and join the Islander Girl family!

Lead Deckhand

I’m from Richmond VA and graduated from Bridgewater College in 2020 with a bachelors in Health and Human Services and Nutrition. During school I played on the women’s soccer and it was amazing! My partner and I are accepted Peace Corps Volunteers but because of COVID we could not travel internationally. Instead we drove cross country and backpacked all over the west coast and that was one of the best vacations of my life. Ask me about it and I’ll tell you everything! After our trip was done we spent the winter in Big Sky Montana which was incredible. I had never experienced negative degree before and boy was it cold! I would do it again but only for the powder. After the season was over we came down to the keys to be by the ocean as we were land locked for longer than we ever have living on the east coast 2 hours away from the beach. Working on snorkel boats is a great time! Meeting new people, seeing new creatures, and teaching people how to snorkel and giving them an experience to remember is the most rewarding feeling. I’m a very open person so ask me about my adventures or anything else!

Elizabeth Yancey graduated from the University of South Florida with a master’s degree, where she studied marine natural products chemistry and chemical ecology. Her research was focused on mangrove endophyte ecology, studying the interaction between mangrove-associated microbes and the larger mangrove environment. Additionally, she studied reef chemistry, specifically the pharmaceutical relevance of compounds biosynthesized by soft corals, sponges, and tunicates. After graduating, she has been pursuing a career in diving, working at BSA Sea Base and Capt. Slate’s SCUBA Adventures as a SCUBA instructor, with the intention of sharing her love and respect for the ocean and coastal environments with new and experienced divers alike.
