Sydney
Lead Deckhand
Sydney.HEIC

I’m from Richmond VA and graduated from Bridgewater College in 2020 with a bachelors in Health and Human Services and Nutrition. During school I played on the women’s soccer and it was amazing! My partner and I are accepted Peace Corps Volunteers but because of COVID we could not travel internationally. Instead we drove cross country and backpacked all over the west coast and that was one of the best vacations of my life. Ask me about it and I’ll tell you everything! After our trip was done we spent the winter in Big Sky Montana which was incredible. I had never experienced negative degree before and boy was it cold! I would do it again but only for the powder. After the season was over we came down to the keys to be by the ocean as we were land locked for longer than we ever have living on the east coast 2 hours away from the beach. Working on snorkel boats is a great time! Meeting new people, seeing new creatures, and teaching people how to snorkel and giving them an experience to remember is the most rewarding feeling. I’m a very open person so ask me about my adventures or anything else!

Additionally, she studied reef chemistry, specifically the pharmaceutical relevance of compounds biosynthesized by soft corals, sponges, and tunicates. After graduating, she has been pursuing a career in diving, working at BSA Sea Base and Capt.
